Pierre Gaillard - Rhône

Pierre Gaillard has made it as a career changer to one of the leading wineries brought to the northern Rhône. Without his family owning a vineyard, he studied oenology and began his career in the wine industry as a vineyard manager at the famous Guigal house on the Côte-Rôtie. In 1981 he bought his first three hectares of vineyards in the picturesque village of Malleval, in the AOC Saint-Joseph.

Today Pierre Gaillard produces wine on 25 hectares on the northern Rhône in many of the most important AOCs, such as Condrieu, Côte-Rôtie, Crozes-Hermitage and Cornas and of course Saint-Joseph. and is considered one of the leading quality wineries in the region, as proven by euphoric reviews in almost all of the world's important wine portals.

Over the years, additional projects were added in the southern French appellations of Faugères and Banyuls, so that the family now cultivates 77 hectares of vineyards. All growing areas are united by the slate soil.

The Gaillards rely on environmentally friendly viticulture and a high planting density, which drives the roots deeper in order to produce higher quality. The style of Gaillard wines is generous and harmonious. This also applies to the wines of the Northern Rhône, which come from the relatively cool climate. Dreamlike wines in red and white from the Syrah, Viognier and Roussanne grape varieties.
