Weinviertel

Located in the north of Vienna, Weinviertel is Austria's largest wine-growing region, with more than 13,000 hectares of vines. The most famous feature of the Weinviertel is its Gruner Veltliner, the "Pfefferl" as it is often called. Every second Veltliner vine of Austria is in the Weinviertel! White wine takes 75% of the total surface in the Weinviertel. In addition to the Veltliner, there are excellent Chardonnay, Muskateller, Traminer, Pinot Blanc and Riesling. Grüner Veltliner of exeptional quality, can be labeled as Weinviertel DAC or as DAC reserve (at least 13% alcohol). The DAC wines are fresh and fruity dry white wine, the reserve have more power and may also have notes of wooden barrels.

The Weinviertel is an excellent supplier of inexpensive wines of all categories.
