In addition to the famous Rieslings, excellent Pinot Noirs, which are among the best red wines in Germany, also grow in the Rheingau. Assmannshausen is the Burgundian stronghold of the Rheingau, but great wines are also produced in neighboring Rüdesheim, most of which have a distinctive character of origin.
