Styria, also known as the green heart of Austria, is best known for its brilliant white wines. The area covers an area of around 5,100 hectares and is divided into three sub-regions, of which Southern Styria is clearly the most important from a qualitative perspective. Above all, Sauvignon Blanc grows here at world-class level, but Chardonnay, here called Morillon, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, and Muscat can also produce first-class wines that delight with their subtle nature and freshness.
The wines of Styria are actually always dry, although barrique barrels are often used for higher qualities.
