Pierre Gaillard also makes an excellent red Crozes-Hermitage on five hectares of vineyards. The Syrah vines grow on soils with large round stones, the galets, which ensure good drainage. After fermentation, the wine is aged in barriques for eighteen months.
The 2019 vintage was one of the best of the last decades on the northern Rhône. The wines have ripe fruit and a lot of extract and power in the tannins. You will develop positively for longer than usual.
The Crozes-Hermitage rouge from Gaillard also benefits from this; there has rarely been a vintage with such density on the palate. Its aromas are reminiscent of red and black berries, cloves and green pepper. On the palate it is voluminous, even fruity, but also has just the right amount of tannin to leave a fresh impression in the very long finish.
Try this juicy Crozes-Hermitage with dark meat, game, grilled dishes, burgers or stews. It actually almost always fits. We like him a lot.
