Pierre Gaillard's Côte-Rôtie (=hand-roasted) is a classic cuvée from the Côte Brune with its slate soil and the Côte Blonde, where more clayey gneiss soils can be found. Also particularly traditional for this origin, in addition to the 90% Syrah there is also 10% of the white grape variety Viognier, which gives this wine a delicate perfume and ensures a delicate creaminess. The copywriter's mouth was watering at this point.

All Pierre Gaillard plots on the Cote-Rotie are located on steep, terraced slopes with a southern and southeastern orientation, where almost everything has to be done by hand. After cold maceration to extract as much fruit as possible, the wine is aged in barriques, of which approximately 30% are made of new wood. Each plot is developed separately and only at the end is cuvéed into this excellent Côte-Rôtie.

The Pierre Gaillard Côte-Rôtie is an expressive, individual and at the same time subtle wine. Its scent is just intoxicating and unforgettable. Notes of blackcurrant, pepper and violet can be found. But words can hardly describe this entire bouquet. You have to experience it. The palate finds exactly the right balance between fine tannins, an extract-rich and velvety body and subtle freshness. A beauty with depth.
