Like all winegrowing areas in Lower Austria, the Kamptal is clearly a white wine region. The proportion of red varieties is relatively low, however, it is quite remarkable when the appropriate variety is planted in the good vineyards.
The Zweigelt is the most important variety here, by the way, its breeder came from the Kamptaler wine-growing town Langenlois. The qualitative tip is usually Merlot and Syrah, which also have enough strength for the barrique cultivation. In their cool and elegant styles, finest and storable reds can be found, which are among the best red wines of Austria, as the wines of Kurt Angerer prove. With the Redgranite , Angerer produces one of Austria's greatest red wines at all.
