Grauburgunder, Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio, originally from France, probably from Burgundy or Champagne, in both regions, today he plays no more role, he has established himself elsewhere. It is a natural mutation of the Spätburgunders, of which he also has its very slightly gray-violet berry skin. When read at full maturity, the Grauburgunder can reach a remarkable fullness and substance and produce a rich and juicy white wine. In Germany, approximately 5,600 hectares are planted with this vine, representing 5.5% of the total area. Most Grauburgunder vines stand in the "Burgunderland" Baden followed by Rheinhessen and the Palatinate. Great Gray Burgundy is also available in Alsace and Northern Italy.
This vine is known worldwide as Pinit Grigio, in many places a synonym for unadulterated (almost) dry white wine from Italy, whose production volume exceeded the possibilities of the cultivation area several times over. We dissociate ourselves from these products and offer you excellent characterful Grauburgunder .
