The Friuli, more precisely Friuli-Venezia-Giulia with its capital Trieste is located in the north-east of Italy. Viticulture has a tradition of over 3,000 years. In addition to the well-known white wines of Friuli, there are also very charming red wines, which account for almost 50% of the cultivation area. In addition to the Bordeaux vines Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon, or Cabernet Franc, which are widespread in Northern Italy, the local varieties Refosco, Pignolo and Schiopettino deserve special attention. Usually the red wines are aged without the use of barriques and have a soft and fruity character.
