St. Michael-Eppan

The St. Michael Eppan winery is located in South Tyrol, south of Bozen in the municipality of the same name. It is a cooperative winery with 330 members who together cultivate 385 hectares of vineyards.

The highest vineyards are mostly planted with the three grape varieties Weißburgunder, Sauvignon and Pinot Noir. The medium-high locations at "only" 400 meters above sea level are reserved for the white varieties Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Gewürztraminer, while the red varieties Lagrein, Cabernet and Merlot grow in the lower and therefore warmest locations.

The first-class wines from the St. Michael-Eppan winery benefit from the alpine climate with many hours of sunshine and the high temperature differences between day and night, which give the wines their freshness and elegance. St. Michael Eppan is one of the top producers in South Tyrol, Gambero Rosso has a "Tre bicchieri" wine practically every year, the Falstaff magazine gives the winery 5/5 stars and goes up to 96/100 points for the current collection (2022 ). The Gault & Millau currently gives two wines the top grade of 5/5 grapes. This could be continued for a long time, short conclusion: St. Michael-Eppan is great!
