The winery Chapuis Freres or also Chapuis & Chapuis is relatively young, it was founded in 2009 by the brothers Romain and Jean-Guillaume Chapuis, who come from a family of winemakers in Aloxe-Corton.
Chapuis Freres produces organic wines in a minimally invasive way, which means only minimal use of sulfur during bottling and there is no fining or filtration. The wines are only fermented with the naturally present yeasts and are usually aged in used barrels. You only want very delicate wood tones in the wines here.
Romain Chapuis perfected his craft after years of traveling in viticulture in various countries with Phillipe Pacalet, probably the best-known natural wine grower in Burgundy.
The Chapuis wines are made from very healthy grapes and are therefore very stable even without a lot of sulfur. They can be stored for several years without any problem and are excellent representatives of their origins at a really fair price. Unfortunately there are only small quantities of it.
