Speri - Veneto

The Speri family has been growing wines in the Valpolicella Classico area since the mid-19th century. Today, the seventh generation of Speris cultivates around 60 hectares of vines, which have been certified organic since 2015.

The focus is on tradition and innovation, all vineyards are trained in the traditional pergola style, but improvements have also been introduced to optimize this form of training. Further innovations included Speri's Amarone, which was first produced in 1958, making them one of the oldest Amarone producers ever.

In 1974, the first CRU appeared with theAmarone Classico Vigneto Monte Sant'Urbano, at a time when the idea of individual vineyards was not yet very widespread in Italy. Today he is one of the highest rated Amarones, he is practically a subscriber to the 3 Biccheri in Gambero Rosso.

Sustainability in all areas is also important to the Speri family. Firstly in terms of the environment, organic cultivation, promotion of biodiversity, secondly socially, the focus is on team spirit, all forms of discrimination should be prevented and employees should be given the best training and further education.

Quote website Speri: "Our family has formally committed to ensuring that this policy is understood, implemented and supported by all employees, through a company training and awareness program and through a continuous review of the system. To this end, it makes its resources available, since it firmly believes that this is a necessary and indispensable prerequisite for strengthening its position and guaranteeing lasting and justifiable competitive advantages."
