The Recioto della Valpolicella is one of the few classic red sweet wines in Italy. Like Amarone, its concentration is increased by drying grapes, only with Recioto fermentation is stopped, leaving a significant residual sweetness in the wine. Since 2010, the origin has been classified in the highest category of Italian quality wines, as DOCG.

The Speri Recioto della Valpolicella Classico comes from the location La Roggia and was made from highly ripe but not noble rotten grapes. The berries were dried for 110 days, which means they lose almost half of their weight and a very high must weight is achieved. At 13.5% alcohol, the wine still has over 100g of residual sugar. After fermentation, Speri's Recioto is stored in barriques for a long 24 months before being bottled.

An exciting Recioto with enormous density on the palate, complex aromas of violets, raisins and ripe dark berries and a very long finish with lush fruitiness. It is best enjoyed with chocolate desserts, Italian pastries or with a piece of blue cheese.
