Luce, Tenuta - Toskana

The Tenuta Luce in Montalcino / Tuscany was founded in the early 1990s by the Frescobaldi and Mondavi families to produce a Supertuscan made from Merlot and Sangiovese, which is said to be one of the best red wines in Italy. This goal has long been achieved.

The vines of the Luce winery are located southwest of the town of Montalcino at relatively high altitudes, which benefits the finesse of the wines. Eleven of the 80 hectares of Tenuta Luce are approved as Brunello di Montalcino DOCG and have been bottled separately since 2004. The 2019 Brunello di Montalcino was recently awarded an incredible 99/100 points by Falstaff magazine, which shows what a fantastic level we have now reached here.

The estate's first wine was Luce, which came onto the market in the 1993 vintage. Today, thanks to the much older vines, we are in a completely different league of quality; the youngest vintages Luce, and also its "second wine" Lucente, are simply brilliant. This is not least thanks to Lamberto Frescobaldi, who has managed the winery since 2005.

Luce's logo is a shining sun. It also adorns the high altar of the fifteenth-century Florence church of Santo Spirito, built on land owned by the Frescobaldi family.
