The Tenuta Luce was originally the joint project of the Frecobaldi families from Tuscany and Mondavi from California. The goal was to create a Supertuscan in Montalcino, which would be one of the very best wines in Italy. This has been completely achieved with the Luce.
The vines have now reached a high average age, which gives the wine significantly more depth than in the first vintages at the beginning of the 1990s. The 2021 Luce could even become the best Luce of all time. The ideal weather conditions this year resulted in a wine with elegant tannins, lots of extract, depth and the best balance at a very high level.
A first-class Luce. It has a dark ruby red color. Its scent is reminiscent of ripe blackberries and blueberries, with a hint of violet and a subtle vanilla note. On the palate it combines all its power with a lot of charm, the first-class tannins give the wine support and freshness in the very long-lasting finish. Great!
