Mas Lasta means last winery, as the vineyards in the Montpellier hinterland are the last before the Larzac plateau. Here, the once globally active oenologist Anne-Laure Sicard founded her winery in the AOP Terrasses du Larzac in 2015 in order to organically grow high-quality red wines from the local varieties Grenache, Syrah and Carignan. p>
She restored the old vineyards and replanted many vines in the difficult-to-work terraced areas. The project in this unpopulated area also involves sheep, which provide the milk for Roquefort cheese and are responsible for mowing the grass. Today 8 hectares of vineyards are active, expansion is being planned.
Due to the relatively high vineyards, the Mas Lasta wines always have a beautiful structure and a certain freshness in addition to their Mediterranean richness. They are still an insider tip, but that will certainly change soon.
