The red Languedoc from Mas Lasta consists of around 45 year old Grenache Noir (80%) and 20% Syrah, which is around who are 20 years old. The vineyard is at an altitude of 400 meters and has sandstone soil. The harvest is carried out exclusively by hand and after fermentation the wine remains in steel tanks for seven months where it perfects itself.
The yield is very low, just 27 hl/ha is achieved, which is very good for the quality. Oenologist Anne-Laure Sicard always finds the perfect balance between fruit, body and freshness in her wines.
Sample note Frank Rembold for Mas Lasta Languedoc 2021: darker color. Milk chocolate, coffee beans, plum, slightly towards dried fruit, but still precise in the scent. Good bite on the palate, has power and structure, is drinkable and has good length. I like it very much.
An ideal accompaniment to cold plates, spicy lamb dishes, game birds or braised dishes.
