The Krispel Winery is located around 60 km southeast of the city of Graz, in the wine-growing region Vulkanland Steiermark. In addition to first-class wines, Krispel also has wool pig breeding, which is used to produce delicious meat and sausage products. That's why they confidently call themselves Genussgut Krispel here.
The southeastern part of Steiermarkt is famous for its Sauvignon Blanc, which produces wines that can be considered absolutely world class. The Krispel Sauvignon Blanc Straden is the estate's local wine. It throws around the intense aromas of this grape variety such as gooseberries and currants - or better yet, currant leaves. On the palate it combines freshness and density, the wine is beautifully supple and still makes you want to take another sip. A magical Sauvignon Blanc without the influence of wood.
Falstaff magazine (AT) awards 92/100 to the Straden Sauvignon Blanc 2022. Taster Peter Moser writes: "Medium green-yellow, silver reflections. Behavior, delicate of guavas and mango, with nuances of gooseberries and cassis. Juicy, elegant, white tropical fruit, subtle fruit sweetness, balanced and easy to drink."
Wein-plus.eu writes about the 2018 vintage: “very good finish with fresh, cool juice.”
This first-class white wine goes very well with fish and seafood, sushi and intense vegetables such as fennel. He also likes Asian spices.
