The vintage champagne R.D. was designed by Madame Bollinger as a top champagne that can be stored for an extremely long time. It is stored on the lees for at least 9 years before it is sold. Its ripe aromas make it unique; it has an unheard of finesse. Only in the very best vintages is a Bollinger R.D. generated. Tasting it is a magical wine moment
2008 is considered one of the greatest Champagne vintages of our time. The combination of coolness, freshness, pressure and depth is rarely found. The press reviews of the Bollinger R.D. are correspondingly euphoric. 2008. Parker's Wine Advocate is at 98/100, Jamessuckling.com even at 99/100.
The assemblage of the R.D. 2008 is made from a variety of wines from Grand Cru locations, the 71% Pinot Noir comes mainly from Aÿ (Valée de la Marne) and Verzenay (Montagne de Reims), the 29% Chardonnay from Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and Cramant, both in the Côte des Blancs.
