The Chablis 1er Cru Montee de la Tonnerre is among the very best of its kind. It is just to the east of the Grand Cru hill on the right side of the Serein river. Julien Brocard describes this 1er Cru as the most complex in the entire Chablis. This wine has great minerality, floral notes, plenty of body and an impressive aging potential that is not inferior to that of a Grand Cru.
Julien Brocard ferments his Montee de la Tonnerre in the barrel, then the wine is stored for 12 months before it is bottled. The very fine vintage 2021 has a slightly yellowish color with green tinges. The scent is cool and mineral, citrus fruits, orange peel and green pepper can be found. Deep on the palate with great power and structure, the wine has a lot of pull in the very long finish. Great class! Particularly recommended with mushroom dishes, seafood and fish.
