Chanson owns a 1.9 hectare plot in the 1er Cru vineyard "Les Caradeux" in Pernand-Vergelesses. It is in the vicinity of the famous Corton Hill and produces powerful Chardonnay wines with mineral depth and a very good storage potential, as the vines are on very similar soil as in neighboring Corton-Charlemagne. This excellent terroir emphasizes the mineral character of the wines, which is exactly reflected in the example from Chanson.
The excellent 2020 vintage yielded amazingly elegant wines that are much fresher than is usual in such a warm year. The combination of ripe grapes and this elegance is rare. The wines can safely be stored for a long time, even if they are very accessible when young.
The Les Caradeux 1er Cru 2020 by Chanson has a bright yellow color with greenish reflections. The scent shows toasted notes and ripe citrus aromas. On the palate it is balanced, complex and powerful in the very long finale, with all the intensity and fullness it is always fresh and precise. A perfect balance Balance at a high level. between the freshness of Pernand and the maturity of the 2020 vintage. Good persistence.
This mineral 1er Cru goes particularly well with crustaceans, fried scallops, fish in white wine sauce, vegetable casserole. Also the typical Burgundian cheeses such as Epoisses and Citeaux, or a young Comté from the Jura. Enjoy it.
