The Jungenberg Blaufränkisch from Altenburger consists of what are probably the oldest vines on the Jungeberg and, with almost 1000 bottles, is Annual production a real rarity. It is one of the great Blaufränkisch wines of our time. The wine scores with elegance and complexity, not with power. It is the exact opposite of the batonnage that Markus Altenburger is involved in.
Peter Moser from the wine magazine Falstaff (AT) attests it a "texture reminiscent of Musigny", finesse and minerality, as well as "light-footedness at the highest level" and awards 96/100 points for the 2018 vintage.
