The Beaune Clos des Mouches 1er Cru is one of the very best four locations in Beaune, the "capital" of the Côte d'Or, for white wines it is probably the best. Its sun-kissed vineyard has the optimal orientation to the south-east, like all the really big vineyards in Burgundy. Located in the south of the AOC, Clos des Mouches borders on the Pommard Premier Crus. The vineyard got its name from bees that used to have their hives there. With 4.5 hectares, Chanson is the most important owner of this top location after Joseph Drouhin..
2017 is a beautiful vintage for high-quality white Burgundies that are now ready to be drunk. The wines have substance and freshness, are well balanced and will have a long development time. The Clos des Mouches Chanson 2017 has a light golden yellow color. Its floral scent is enhanced by white fruits and citrus notes, it smells mineral-cool and with a fine wood note from the glass (it is best to use a large Burgundy glass, as for red Burgundy). On the palate, the wine has a lot of traction and this fine elegance and Precision that has made white Burgundies world-famous and is a role model for many Chardonnay winegrowers in other regions.Great and long-lasting.
What's up with that? We particularly recommend meat or poultry pies, prawns, dishes with creamy sauces and/or mushrooms, fish grilled or with white wine sauce and of course Burgundian cheeses such as Citeaux and Epoisses and an older Comté also goes very well.
