The Gundersheimer Riesling first location from the Wittmann winery comes from the Höllenbrand location, which is a direct neighbor of the famous Morstein. Volume. The soil formation here is marl on a limestone rock. The plot is still planted with young vines, but could definitely become a GG in the future when the Riesling vines have reached an older age.
The Höllenbrand is, quite contrary to its name, the coolest of Wittmann's top locations. The wines here are whiter fruity than the other crus and are very clear and full of finesse. A quiet Riesling with a lot of noblesse.
2021 was a very good Riesling year. Low yield, but with fresh and grippy wines that do not lack depth and should have a long lifespan. Parker gives 92/100 points for the 2021 Gundersheimer Riesling. The zaitschrift Falstaff is at 91+/100 and writes "...The wine draws its appeal from the focus on nerves and minerals - and from its good potential."
