Jolivet, Pascal - Loire

Another Jolivet at Maluni. In addition to the ingenious Bastien Jolivet von der Rhône, we couldn't resist offering the better-known Pascal with his brilliant Loire wines, despite the risk of confusion. The Jolivet family has been involved in the wine business for a long time. The path to his own winery began in 1987 when Pascal founded a brand with his name. To be able to produce these wines at high level, he built a modern winery in 1990. Even then, he was convinced that authentic wine should be made as naturally as possible and without the use of added fermentation yeast. In 1993, the first vineyard property in top locations in Sancerre came into the company, followed in 1996 by vineyards in Pouilly-Fumé.

The recognition was not long in coming, the Wine Spectator listed the Sancerre from Jolivet twice in its annual Top 100 list of the best wines in the world. In order to meet the resulting demand, a new, larger winery was built in 2000 and the vineyard area was again considerably expanded.
Today the wines are made biodynamically under the direction of the talented oenologist Valentina Buoso. In addition, very little sulfur is used in winemaking. The dashing elegance of the Sancerre wines and the more full-bodied Pouilly-Fumé of the house belong to the top of the growing area. A price-indulgence tip is the wonderful Touraine Sauvignon called Attitude.
