The white Saint-Joseph from Maison les Alexandrins comes from vineyards on the western bank of the northern Rhône, opposite of Tain l'Hermitage. Alexandre Caso, partner of Nicolas Jaboulet at les Alexandrins, has identified particularly good terroirs with granite soils in the municipalities of Saint Jean de Muzols and Tournon, which are 100% planted with the Marsanne grape variety.

At les Alexandrins they use demi-muids for the Saint-Joseph blanc, which are wooden barrels with a capacity of 600 liters. The wine is fermented there and aged for ten months. The interaction of the different plots with cooler and warmer locations results in the perfect balance of this wine, minerality, fruit and the creamy extract deliver a wonderful wine in the typical style of white wines from the northern Rhône.

Here, too, we would like to point out that these wines can be stored for a very long time despite their rather low acidity. Les Alexandrins even recommends opening this Saint Joseph after 2-3 years of bottle storage so that it can show its full potential. Unfortunately, we were once again only allocated a very small amount.

We recommend grilled fish, shellfish and dishes with white sauces at the table.
