The Pettenthal in Nierstein is the steepest location in Rheinhessen with a slope of up to 70%. It is located on the Roter Hang, whose name comes from the soils with red slate, which give the wines an individual character.
Kühling-Gillot is one of the best wineries in Rheinhessen. The reviews for the 2015 Pettenthal Riesling GG are correspondingly euphoric. The conservative portal Wein-Plus.eu has an incredible 94/100 (!) and describes this large plant as firm, deep and juicy and praises the long, gripping finish. Falstaff magazine even rates this wine 96/100 and describes it as a Riesling with a Burgundian touch.
