Réné Bouvier prepares his Le Finage from several plots in the municipality of Marsannay, which is located in the very north of the Côte de Nuits. The darker clay-limestone soils that are ideal for Pinot Noir predominate here. In the year 2021, which was already small in terms of quantity, a “green harvest” was still carried out to reduce yields in order to only get the best quality into the bottle. Le Finage was fermented only with the naturally present yeasts, followed by aging in wooden barrels for twelve months. The amounts of sulfur used are traditionally very low at Réné Bouvier.
The 2021 Marsannay Le Finage is elegant and grippy, the typical raspberry note is noticeable, the ripe tannins provide structure and freshness.
