2019 Vintage Port, Quinta do Noval 0,75L

The Quinta do Noval Vintage Port belongs to the absolute pinnacle of port wine production. At the beginning of the 1990s there was a huge leap in quality when a new investor took over the traditional company and set the course for a glorious future. Robert Parker then rated the 1997 Noval Vintage Port with 100/100 points, which made the final breakthrough into the ultra-premium segment public.

Since that time many great vintage ports have been made at Quinta do Noval. The magnificent 2019 is one of the highest rated in recent years, with Robert Parker's Wine Advocate and Decanter magazine both scoring 97/100.

Richard Mayson writes for the Decanter: "A late release, on sale this Christmas, from the mostly recently declared year for Vintage Port. Deep opaque inky black hue; tight knit and unyielding with underlying minty ripeness on the nose; well- Defined minty fruit with great purity and intensity on the palate, dark chocolate depth at the core, firm but ripe linear tannins with, long lovely freshness (the hallmark of this vintage) present on the finish. Drink from 2035 – 2080. 97/100 ."

The Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 2019 consists of the Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinto Cão, Sousão and Tinta Roriz grape varieties. Very rarely nowadays, the grapes are still trampled with feet according to old tradition. After fermentation, this grandiose port is stored in small barrels, the so-called pipes, for eighteen months.

An exceptional port that future generations can look forward to, as long as they are left with some of the only 2780 cases in total production.
