The Hermannshöhle is the showpiece among the Grosses Gewächs wines from the Dönnhoff winery. This big and complex Riesling takes time. it is not a wine that impresses when young, even if experienced palates recognize its depth early on. Over time, this wine blossoms more and more, becomes more playful and builds up enormous pressure on the palate without being even a touch heavy.
The Hermannshöhle draws the basis for this depth from its steep location with its vines, most of which are over 60 years old. A Riesling monument.
The strict rating portal Wein-Plus.eu is at 94/100 and praises the salty minerality with a lot of grip.
