The Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru is certainly one of the most famous vineyards in Burgundy. This location owes its fame on the one hand to its size, with almost 51 hectares it is the largest Grand Cru on the Côte de Nuits. Secondly, the well-known castle of the same name also contributes to the reputation, which was built in 1551 and today hosts many events related to wine.
Due to its size, the Clos de Vougeot is heterogeneous in quality. The best plots are at the top ofthe vineyard, near the castle. The grapes for the Chanson Clos de Vougeot come from here. Since the vineyard is not owned by the domaine, this wine is not available every year. 2017 was a classic Burgundy vintage with structured wines that are already a pleasure to drink. This vintage's chanson Clos de Vougeot has a ruby red color and an invigorating scent reminiscent of dark berries, vanilla and herbs. It is playful and complex on the palate, its silky texture running through to the long finish. Great!
