Château le Boscq in Saint-Estèphe is a top value in this northern Mèdoc appellation. Since 1995, the estate has been operated by the negociant company Dourthe, which has made extensive investments to lead the winery to the top of the Cru Bourgeois. For many years, the le Boscq has definitely been on a similar level as the second tier of the Grand Cru Classé in this municipality and for this high quality it is really good value. The Dourthe team has given this wine a very high standard, it is powerful, but not rustic due to the ripe grapes. A typical Saint-Estephe, but not a roughneck.

The estate has a long history. As early as 1749, Thomas Barton recognized the potential of these vineyards and introduced the wine to Bordeaux. The magnificent castle was built in 1891. In 1932, the estate was classified as Cru Bourgeois, and today it is even listed as "Exceptionnel". The soils are gravel and clay, typical of the best locations here. It is managed according to the principles of sustainable plant protection according to the specifications of the Terra Vitis Association.

Of course, the outstanding 2019 vintage has once again turned out fantastically well. It combines power and extract with remarkable freshness and depth. The vintage consists of 46% Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. The ratings of the wine journalists are very euphoric, James Suckling gives 94-95/100 and praises the structure and the classic Saint-Estèphe character, Max Gerstel (CH) draws 19/20 > and titles this wine as a grandiose Bordeaux at an incredible price.
