Just 2% of the total vineyard area in Chablis is good enough for the Grand Cru classification. The 106 hectares of Grand Cru are spread over seven individual vineyards, all of which are next to each other. The Bougros is considered the Grand Cru location with the softest and fruitiest top-class Chablis wines. Here you get a lot of fruit and charm with a relatively soft acid structure. That's why you can always drink Bougros wines relatively soon after bottling, although they can of course also age well.

2021 is a cool and classic Chablis vintage, the wines have an enchanting minerality, depth and a great balance at a high level. The Bougros Grand Cru by Billaud-Simon has a lot of pressure on the palate, but is also very accessible, the fruit is intense, the finish is long and supple. Great!

Decanter magazine rates Billaud-Simon's 2021 Bougros 92/100 and writes: "More oak character is apparent with the Bougros, allied to plenty of palate weight and a touch of spice and appealing orange marmalade hints on the palate . In 2021 there were just two barrels, produced with bought in grapes. Nice structure underneath. Good potential here and a Grand Cru which will be attractive a bit earlier than some."
