Enate is one of the big names in Spanish viticulture. The winery in Somontano, northeast of the city of Zaragoza, in the province of Aragon, produces a wide range of high-quality white, rosé and red wines up to the ultra-premium range.
Enate grows their vineyards according to organic principles. The talented winemaker Jesus Artajona learned his business at Chateau Margaux, there is hardly a better place to find of reverence and training. Incidentally, each Enate label bears a picture of a contemporary Spanish artist. Art in and on the bottle!
The Chardonnay 234 is one of the most important wines in the Enate range. Incidentally, 234 is probably the least romantic name that a single vineyard can have, but that doesn't matter as soon as you have this delicious wine in your glass. The vineyard is located on a terrace on the Cinca River, which keeps the temperatures cool with its cold meltwater from the Pyrenees and thus creates an ideal terroir for the cultivation of Chardonnay.
The Enate Chardonnay 234 has received almost countless medals and awards over the years and embodies a soft and fruity-dry white wine style that has many fans worldwide. The wine is mostly matured in steel tanks, in the end it gets 3% of a batch stored in barriques to achieve a little more structure and aroma.
The 234 Chardonnay cuts a particularly good figure with tapas, white meat, manchego cheese, grilled fish and crustaceans.
