The "le Canal des Grands Pièces" grows on sand gravel soil in a former riverbed of the Vienne. It is fermented and expanded in the concrete tanks and bottled only with minimal amounts of sulfur (maximum 20 mg per liter of free sulfur, legally permitted is up to 150 mg).
It is the starting wine in the portfolio of the Domaine de L'R , as they deliberately do not call it basic wine, because the 45 to 65 years old Cabernet Franc vines bring already a very impressive concentration and complexity in the wine. The Canal des Grands Pièces is the basic red wine of Frédéric Sigonneau. It has an exhilarating aroma of white pepper and blackberries, the tannins are noticable, but always balanced ba the body. A Chinon with a very good price-quality-ratio, recommended as a universal accompaniment to meals. Biowein ABCert .
