Vinsobres is highly regarded for its Syrah wines. It is in the northern part of the southern Rhone in about 300m altitude, mostly on terraced vineyards. Here the terroir has the necessary coolness to give the Syrah finesse.
Therefore, the Syrah plays a major role in the Vinsobres Les Cornuds by the family Perrin. The Syrah gives a stunning spicyness tot he wine and the Grenache provides body and fullness. A perfect interplay, which takes place in a great vintage like 2018, on an especially high level.
Jeb Dunnuck from Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate rated the 2017 vintage 90-92/100: "The 2017 Vinsobres les Cornuds is a 50-50 blend of Grenache and Syrah, grown in one of the northern and higher appellations of the Southern Rhône. This medium to full-bodied wine combines the positive attributes of its varietal components, offering cherry and blueberry fruit, ample concentration, supple tannins and a finish that boasts hints of violets and dried spices."
