Bon Courage's Estate Shiraz (=Syrah) grows in Robertson/South Africa. The winery's Estate Wine Range is fruity and elegant, charming everyday wines marketed at a very fair price.
The Pepper Tree Shiraz is fermented cold and with the whole berries and then stored for 16 months in barriques that have been used for the second and third time. The result is a markedly fruity Shiraz, whose aromas are reminiscent of red berries, plums, pepper, hence the name, and vanilla. On the palate it shows a nice softness and a lot of volume, in the long finale the spicy aromas of the fragrance can be found again. A beautiful red with intense varietal character that goes well with hearty meat dishes (e.g. from the grill) and intensive stews.
