The rising star of the northern Rhône is the AOP Saint-Joseph. Here, fans of the elegant "Cool Climate" Syrah will find wonderful wines that can be purchased relatively inexpensively compared to most of the neighboring AOPs.
Maison les Alexandrins makes its red Saint-Joseph from Syrah vines grown on slopes with granite and granite gravel soils with an eastern and southeastern exposure, in the communes of Saint Jean de Muzols and Tournon are growing. Freshness, elegance and fine tannins are the typical attributes of Les Alexandrins wines. This delicious Saint-Joseph is an excellent example of this.
The 2022 vintage was warm and unproblematic for winemakers in the northern Rhône. Despite the warmth, Alexandrins Saint-Joseph is an elegant type of Syrah, with fine and perfectly ripe tannins and a juicy body. It tastes just as good in its youthful fruit phase as it does when bottled further; 10 years from harvest should not be a problem.
