The Perrin Côtes-du-Rhône Réserve is a hit in our portfolio for years. The Perrin family, which also owns the top winery Château de Beaucastel in Chateauneuf-du-Pape, knows how to give a wine from the warm growing region of the southern Rhône a striking elegance. The typical Rhône red wine grapes Grenache Noir, Mourvedre and Syrah are used here.
Currently there is the Côtes-du-Rhône Reserve by Perrin from the great vintage 2020. A very satisfying harvest in terms of quantity and quality. Perrin protected the vines in this hot year by spraying chamomile tea! It seems to have worked, such a density is rare even with this wine, which has always been rather full. The wine doesn't seem heavy. It is a blend of the Grenache Noir grape variety that grows near the city of Orange. The Syrah comes from terraced vineyards in Vinsorbes, the stronghold for this vine on the southern Rhône. The powerful Mourvedre comes from different vineyards. The wine is aged in tanks and 25% in fuders (large wooden barrels). The result is an excellent everyday red wine for discerning people, aromas of red and black berries, cherries and some cinnamon and this wonderful smoothness of the southern Rhône, while the wine is always fresh and easy to drink due to its fine tannin structure. One of our absolute favourites!
