The Chinon "la Familia" of the Domaine de L'R grows on a limestone soil in slopes with an eastern orientation. The vines are between 20 and 45 years old. After fermentation in concrete tanks, it is aged for 8 months on the lees.
The very ripe vintage 2018 brings us a Chinon "La Familia" with a dark red color with violet reflections. At first, the scent is wild and impetuous, but after a short ventilation it becomes beautifully clear, with ripe blackberries. A lot of concentration on the palate, especially for this price range and really well beyond it, ripe tannins, opulent fruit, a long finish, exciting, there is an enormous amount of extracts and abundance, which is rarely found in a Loire Cabernet. Absolutely outstanding in this price class, a great combination of the taste and smell of a Bordeaux and the subtleties and the freshness of a Burgundy. Total production: only 3200 bottles.
