The Barbareso DOCG Pio Cesare is one of the great classics of Piedmontese wines. It grows in family-owned vineyards in the municipality of Treiso (sites: Il Bricco, San Stefanetto and Bongiovanni), as well as in San Rocco Seno d'Elvio in the Rocche di Massalupo site.

This straightforward Barbaresco is traditionally composed of different layers, the properties of which contribute to achieve a perfect taste of a Nebbiolos from Barbaresco. After careful reading and selection of the berries, the Pio Cesare Barbaresco is fermented in steel tanks and then poured into large wooden vats to find its Rhue and balance there. A small part of the harvest is also aged in barriques. The result is a structured Barbaresco with great elegance, powerful tannins and much more complex aromas. This wine can be stored for many years, during which time it will become smoother and acquire an aromatic playfulness.

James Suckling rated the 2017 Barbaresco Pio Cesare with very high 95/100 points and noted aromas of dried flowers and oranges, as well as berries and hazelnuts. The fine tannins are well integrated, the extract dresses the palate.
