At Château Côte de Baleau, the excellent 2019 vintage produced a particularly concentrated, grippy and opulent wine, a prime example of a first-class vintage and modern style. It combines fruit, opulence and structure excellently and will tolerate several years of bottle aging, even if its juicy nature makes it very seductive even in its youth. 2016Slider
The trade press is very impressed with this beautiful Bordeaux. The magazine Falstaff writes in February 2022: "Dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate ochre edge lightening. Subtle herbal spice, a hint of cherries, fine hint of precious wood, some nougat, restrained bouquet. Medium complexity, sweet blackberries, integrated tannins, chocolaty but also mineral on the finish, salty aftertaste, still seems underdeveloped."
Master of Wine Andeas Larsson is even more euphoric in his portal "Tasted", where he awards 93/100 for the Cote de Baleau 2019: "Pure, chalky and stony nose, elegant perfume of red fruit with wild berries and floral hints. A dense and fresh palate with savoury dark fruit, grainy tannin, fine oak underneath and a long, lingering and powerful finish with good tension."
