In 2015, Caliterra produced a single vineyard Malbec from Petreo, 12% were aged in amphoras. This first vintage was euphorically discussed, James Suckling gave 94/100 - quote: "This is mind-binding Malbec that verges on the brilliance of a great pinot. The wine shows so much earth character with dusty, stone character and a wonderful clarity and precision. Blackberry, violet and tar undertones. A special malbec!...“
In Robert Parker's wine advocate it receives 93/100 - Quote: ... A superb Malbec; a new face of Colchagua. Awesome. "
In fact, we this is an exciting Malbec, due to the partial maturing in amphora, it has a completely unique style. The wood is discreet, dark berries dominate the scent, intense and spicy, some floral notes. On the palate, it is as intense, but also fine, even minerally elegant for a Chilean wine, which usually impresses with fruit intensity. This is exciting and high-class.
