Pian delle Vigne is the Brunello winery of the Florence wine dynasty Antinori. It has been part of the family since 1995 and is located southwest of the village of Montalcino, i.e. in the warmer part of the growing area. 65 hectares are under vines, everything planted with Sangiovese Grosso, the clay and limestone soil gives the wines elegance. It is traditionally matured in large oak barrels, which give only a few aromas to the wine, but lead to a fine maturity before the wine is bottled.
The Brunello from the great 2018 vintage was awarded 96/100 by the magazine Falstaff and was described as follows: "red ruby color with a shining garnet edge. Compact nose with notes of tobacco, plums and dark cherries. Blossoms on the palate, lots of fruit, ripe , but not overripe, opens with many layers of fine-meshed tannin, powerful, but also juicy. "
