The Zweigelt is also stored in wooden barrels at Paul Achs, in this case in a very large 3200 liter barrel. As befits a Zweigelt, it is very charming , has few tannins and a juicy fruit. For the base wine of a producer, this is a real announcement and shows the enormously high ambitions of Paul Achs.
Aromatically, the Paul Achs Zweigelt is reminiscent of cherries and blueberries, as well as a hint of cocoa. On the palate it is supple and fine, the fruit dominates, the tannins provide a delicate structure in the background. A very drinkable and versatile red wine that many people will enjoy. It is also ideal for larger celebrations. It is best to serve it at 14-15° C, this is where its freshness and fruitiness come to the fore.
Falstaff magazine awards 89-91/100 points for the 2021 vintage and writes: "Deep dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate ocher edge lightening. Fresh red wild berries, a hint of cherries, intensive fruit nuances. Lively, medium-bodied, fine fruit sweetness Strawberries, underlaid with minerals, lively, versatile."
