Wittmann's Gundersheimer Riesling first location comes from the Gundersheimer Höllenbrand, which borders the Morstein to the west. There are layers of clay marl that lie on limestone in the subsoil. After the land consolidation, Philipp Wittmann was able to buy a plot of land there. He thinks highly of the rather cool location and considers it worthy of GG when the Riesling vines there have reached the required age. The coolness of this vineyard ensures a late harvest and very elegant wine with white rather than yellow fruit, fine, grippy and mineral, which even applies to warm years like this 2020.
