The Wegener wineries (Mosel and Rheingau) have a tradition of holding back individual batches of particularly good wines and bringing them onto the market many years later. These wines can be identified by the addition: "Vintage Collection" on the label. They were stored in the winery's treasury and are re-corked before they are sold.
