The Domaine Berthelemot is also active on the Côte de Nuits. Their Vosne-Romanée, a Village wine, comes from the Champs Goudins and Le Pré de la Folie vineyards, which have deep clay soil on a layer of limestone. The vines are of considerable age, planted in 1962 and 1973, giving depth and complexity to the wine
In 2021, Bethelemot's yield was only a third of the usual amount due to dramatic damage caused by the spring frost. The further course of the weather was rather cool for today, which would still have corresponded to a rather warm vintage in the 1980s. Therefore, this Vosne-Romanée is also very elegant and structured, its scent is reminiscent of red berries and sour cherries. On the palate it is clear and elegant, with plenty of finesse, ripe tannins and excellent length. You can drink it young, it is expected to blossom fully from 2026.
Since this vintage, all the wines at Berthelemot have been certified organic.
