The grape variety Grechetto is native to central Italy, but its origin is assumed to be in Greece based on the name. It is present in many wines, mostly as part of the cuvée, more rarely as a single variety, as here.
The Umbria Grechetto by Raina is produced biodynamically as a natural wine. For this purpose, the must is fermented with the skins of the berries in steel tanks for two days, i.e. mash fermentation for white wine. This gives structure, some tannins and a lot of substance. The fermentation naturally takes place without added yeasts and the wine is not fined or filtered. The result is an individual white wine with a non-slip mouthfeel. A wine for the fan community of natural wine lovers.
