The Ziereisen winery, or rather its owner Hanspeter Ziereisen, is one of the driving forces in Baden Markgräflerland. At the forefront are the Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir), which are among the best in Germany. The Tschuppen is the quality above the Pinot Noir estate wine. It comes from the vineyard of the same name in Efringen-Kirques and is fermented spontaneously, i.e. without the addition of breeding yeasts, and then aged in used barriques.
The Tschuppen Spätburgunder from the excellent red wine year 2020 shows intense cherry fruit, red berries and a fine oak barrel flavor. On the palate it has fine tannins, is perfectly balanced and has good body, extract and silkiness, as one would expect from an excellent Pinot. Ultimately, the Tschuppen is a grandiose Pinot Noir price-pleasure experience. He doesn't need to fear any competition in this class worldwide.
